Request a dated, identifiable update
Ask when the information was produced, which building or phase it covers and what work has been completed. For an individually built house, connect the update to your plot or house number. Old photos or a percentage for the whole development may say little about your particular home.
Ask what happens next
Instead of relying on “percentage complete”, ask about the current stage, the next planned work and the next update. Structure, services and finishes involve different tasks. A building that looks almost finished may still have substantial work before handover. Compare the explanation with the programme rather than using photographs to assess workmanship.
Clarify material changes
If several updates show little movement, or a revised programme affects delivery, request the reason, the adjustment and a follow-up date. A short pause does not establish that a project has stalled. Equally, “progressing normally” can be followed by a request for specific completed work. Save the response for comparison.
Use the information for your own planning
Review the update alongside instalments, bank preparation and moving arrangements. Where payment is linked to construction milestones, check the actual contractual requirements. Do not stop paying solely because progress looks slow to you. If delivery may change, request written clarification and then review the agreement. A useful update identifies the present position, next step and remaining uncertainty.
