Identify the property and role
Confirm the development, building and unit or house address. Ask whether you are dealing with the owner, a representative or an agent. Relevant ownership or management records should correspond to that home. Verification copies can obscure unrelated information. Complete identity and title documents do not belong in a public group chat.
Check the authority
For a representative, establish whether the permission covers marketing, signing and receiving money; these are separate functions. Company-owned or jointly owned homes may require further confirmation of the signatory. Ask the owner to confirm through a verifiable contact route where needed. Building management may help check information it holds, but is not a universal guarantee of ownership or authority.
Resolve inconsistencies first
The landlord named in the agreement, representative’s permission and payment instructions should make sense together. Ask about differing names or unit details before paying. A recent video helps with condition and an account check helps with payment, but neither replaces the authority check.
After checking authority, read Verify Your Exact Rental Home by Video.

Ownership, tax and visa rules change and individual situations differ. This is general information, not legal advice — confirm with a qualified professional before acting.
