Check Furniture and Appliances Included with a New Home

Use the written inclusion list when checking furniture and appliances supplied with a new home. A fully dressed show unit does not establish that every display item is part of the purchase.

Use the agreed list

Compare quantities, models or agreed specifications with the contract attachment or final confirmed schedule. Check brands, dimensions, placement and installation only to the extent actually promised. Clarify decorative items and linen rather than assuming inclusion.

Check condition and normal use

Record visible damage, missing parts and unfinished installation, and operate main appliances normally. For a substituted model, request an explanation and check compliance with the agreement instead of accepting only a verbal claim that it is better. Distinguish minor appearance items from missing essential equipment.

Record differences

Ask for an agreed replacement, delivery or other solution for outstanding items, with a date and contact. Keep the list and photographs. If later letting the home, use the actual contents to prepare a separate rental inventory rather than relying on old show-unit pictures.

For missing or damaged items, read Submit a New Home Defect List.
