Recheck Repairs After a New Home Inspection

When the developer says repairs are complete, recheck against the original list. Confirm that the reported symptom has been resolved rather than only looking for fresh paint or an equipment indicator light.

Use the original item numbers

Compare the location, photographs and explanation, then operate the relevant feature normally. Recheck drainage under ordinary use or open and close a previously sticking lock. Avoid destructive or unsafe tests.

Record the actual result

Mark each item as resolved, outstanding or requiring further observation. For a leak visible only after rain, agree a suitable follow-up condition. A dry day alone does not prove the cause is fixed, but there is no need to assume failure without evidence.

Confirm remaining work

Return the outstanding item numbers, symptoms and proposed next steps. Acknowledge completed work as well so both sides use the same version. Before signing a reinspection record, check that it describes the result accurately. Confirming that equipment works should not be confused with accepting unrelated contractual conditions.
